FAQ - Citizenship
Is a child born to US citizens stationed in Germany with the military eligible for dual citizenship? Who is eligible for dual citizenship?
No. While a child born in Germany to non-German parents may obtain dual citizenship under certain circumstances, American military personnel fall under different regulations - the Status of Force Agreement (SOFA) - and children born in these circumstances are not eligible for citizenship.
