Churches and Religious Activities
Since English is the most widely used language in the western world, it is
logical that there should be English-language churches throughout continental Europe, including Germany. Hence the many native English speakers here, especially those in the large cities and those near British and American military bases, experience little trouble having their spiritual and fellowship needs met. If you live near a base, a call to the Chaplain's office probably will get you information on religious activities.
The Internet is the best place to find locations of a church, mosque or synagogue closest to you.
There is a large Muslim population in Germany and consequently a large number of mosques. The German word for mosque is Moschee. The website www.islam.de can locate mosques by city.
A good online source for locating a synagogue is www.kosherdelight.com/Germany.shtml. This is the website of a weekly Jewish Online Magazine and has extensive directories.
The website of St. Thomas More Catholic Community in Bonn has a downloadable list of English speaking Catholic churches in Germany. The address is www.stmbonn.de. Click on the "Links" on the left hand side.
Probably the most extensive on-line listing of services in Germany is provided by the European Baptist Convention at www.ibc-churches.org. Click "Church Locator" at the bottom.
For some Lutheran, Methodist and non-denominational Protestant churches try www.internationalcongregations.net/NIC_Europe.html.
Anglicans can try the links to churches in Germany at www.ecusa.anglican.org/europe, and for a listing of five fellowships of the Church of God in Christ try www.cogic.org/links.htm#GER
You can also find English language Christian Science services. You can start with their world home page www.tfccs.com. You'll find an opportunity to search by country and language. "Germany" and "English" will locate eight churches.
