Located in a new school building just north of Frankfurt since April 2011, accadis International School Bad Homburg offers international education from preschool to secondary school with strong emphasis on promoting intercultural understanding. Not only located in Bad Homburg but also connected to the public, commercial and social life of this picturesque spa town at the foot of the Taunus mountain range, accadis takes pride in being the only educational institution in Germany providing high quality programs for every age group from preschool to university.
accadis International School is in the direct neighbourhood of accadis Hochschule, where university students can choose from a variety of management programs. Internationality, foreign languages, scientific foundation, practice-orientation and personal development have been the cornerstones of accadis’ success in higher education for 30 years. Today, at accadis ISB multilingualism includes Spanish instruction starting in grade 2 and Chinese instruction starting in grade 5.
accadis Hochschule and accadis International School are both in private ownership of a Bad Homburg based family dedicated to high quality education. Yet it is worth noting that accadis International School is a non-profit organization.
Preparing young minds for successful life in a globalized world has been the focus of accadis education since its beginnings. Combined with a commitment to life-long learning through an integrated approach, accadis offers pedagogic programs designed to address the genuine needs of the students of each age group, currently going up to grade 6 in the 2011/2012 school year. With 200 students, ISB provides an almost intimate atmosphere and plans to slowly expand towards maximum 530 students.
The preschool division provides a child-centered bilingual learning environment, where children are immersed in two languages, German and English, on a day-to-day basis. Group size ranges from 10 to 18 children with two educators, who consistently follow the one-face-one-language principle. Preschool follows the "Early Learning Goals" of the British national curriculum.
The elementary school division adheres to the Hessian Curriculum and is a state-approved "Ersatzschule", yet the dominant language of instruction is English, thus balancing the predominant use of German outside the classroom due to a majority of German students. The overall effect is that of genuine bilingualism, offering transferability both to international and to German schools.
The Secondary School division at accadis ISB offers differentiated instruction, learning support when needed individually or in small groups, preparing students for the bilingual IB or the German G8 Abitur. Maintaining high academic standards but also inspiring the joy of learning are at the heart of day to day work at accadis ISB. The goal is to help each student reach his or her individual potential. Furthermore, the international student can make friends among local families and get to know the German culture. The German student enjoys an internationally oriented school life without giving up transferability within the German school system.
