International School Braunschweig - Wolfsburg
The World is Our Home
Respect yourself first! To obtain respect, one must first learn self-respect. That is the main governing concept of the International School Braunschweig - Wolfsburg, a part of CJD Braunschweig.
International School Braunschweig - Wolfsburg, in the German state of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), is an all-day school offering young people in the region an English-language education in a multi-cultural environment. From pre-school (Reception Class) through grade 12 students study, play and work with compatriots from over 20 countries.
Special emphasis is given to the development and maturation of the individual student through exposure to multiple cultures as a matter of course - independent of religion or background. The international atmosphere promotes and encourages the child’s evolution leading towards attaining personal maturity as a responsible world citizen.
International School BS - WOB’s international English-language curriculum begins at age four-and-a-half. English is the official language at International School BS - WOB. All the conventional school level subjects are taught and German is offered in two levels - German as a mother tongue and German as a foreign language. Starting with grade 6, Spanish is a required subject while Chinese is available as an elective language.
Comprehensive Report Card evaluations are issued four times a year. Parent-Teacher-conferences are also held three times annually. Class size is kept small, generally about 20 pupils, with about 15 in the Reception Classes All classes are provided with intensive professional instruction- and pedagogical support from Reception Class through Grade 7.
The school day runs from 7.30 a.m. - 4.00 p.m., including instruction, study time, and a variety of Project Classes held in the afternoons. A warm meal is served at lunch.
A well-structured daily programme allowing lots of times for play and extracurricular activities provide the basis for learning with “head, heart and hand.” At International School BS - WOB, the “Cambridge Curriculum” governs the programme from initial acceptance/Reception Class through Grade 8. It then is continued until the International General Certificate of Secondary Education Level (IGCSE) is attained. This corresponds to the German Gymnasium Part I certificate. Licensed by England’s celebrated Cambridge University, International School BS - WOB is a “Cambridge Center”, and thus is certified and entitled to conduct all Cambridge University programmes and grant award certifications.
At the beginning of 2011 the school has been recognised as IB World School. The globally recognized International Baccalaureate (enabling acceptance to courses of study at institutions of higher learning, colleges, universities and technical universities) is awarded at the conclusion of Grade 12. Beginning in summer 2013, the first of these diplomas will be awarded International School BS - WOB’s graduating class.
The school offers the possibility of a Boarding School, where the international pupils are able to experience the German culture and language with their peers.
Every 14 days a school newsletter is published and disseminated by e-mail providing information to general questions regarding school matters as well as special events.
