Leipzig International School
Leipzig International School was established in 1992 and has been growing constantly ever since. Starting with 6 students at the times of its foundation, LIS now hosts nearly 900 students from Nursery & Early Years to Grade 12. An education at the Leipzig International School is about learning to become a citizen of the world.
At our school we’ve created a stimulating and exciting learning environment that children from more than 50 countries, and their parents, love being part of every day. Our talented, internationally minded teachers of more than 20 nationalities are chosen to encourage and inspire children to achieve – whether it’s during the regular guided reading sessions or Big Writing tasks in Primary or the Cambridge international examinations in the Secondary School.
Students at Leipzig International School are challenged to achieve their full potential through an exciting and rigorous curriculum. In the Primary School the International Primary curriculum is used as a tool to encourage great learning in a modern and relevant way which ensures that students receive a 21st century education in real classrooms. In the Secondary School we follow the Cambridge Secondary programme to IGCSE and then the International Baccalaureate programme forms the basis of a G11 and G12 course that can lead to university admission around the world.
As well as focusing on achievement we take an active interest in the well-being and personal development of each child. Initiatives like the school garden, outdoor classroom, playground buddy system, community service projects and a wide range of extra-curricular activities encourage our children to become well-balanced, open individuals with a sense of collective responsibility. To help cater for the needs of individual children, we offer English as a Second Language along with mother tongue and learning support, personal counselling and the care and expertise of our in-house nurse.
Our excellent academic results in the benchmark International Schools’ Assessment and the IGCSE and IBDP international examinations are proof of the quality education we provide at Leipzig International School. The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools as well as the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
We welcome children of all backgrounds and with one out of every four students receiving financial aid we are a fully inclusive school.
