Individual support because every child is unique
Our pedagogic philosophy focuses on the individual strengths and weaknesses in all of us. We understand that each child is unique, and we encourage and support academic, cognitive, social and personal development. Our Learning Support Coordinator will keep track of each and every child at our school, and provide support to students, teachers and parents as needed.
Learning in small groups
Small class sizes are an important part of our programme. As students are individually different, it is only natural that their achievements differ as well. Learning in smaller groups helps us identify differences and allows us to achieve optimal results.
We learn from each other
Our teachers are considered learning guides for their children. They establish a framework where their children can blossom in their individual ways.
The ISW Curriculum for students aged 4-12 years
At the International School Westpfalz we aim to enable students to become life-long learners and to equip them with the academic and life skills needed to take them into the rapidly changing global world they are growing up in as responsible citizens.
Our Early Years and Primary School curriculum is inspired by the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) which prepares our learning partners (students) to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. Subjects, other than languages (German), are taught and examined in English. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered from the age of 4 years (Early Years), ending in Year 6 when students are 11 to 12 years of age. Students can continue their education through to Diploma level at our sister school, International School Neustadt. A free bus service is provided between both locations on a daily basis to facilitate this process.
The PYP focuses on the personal growth of each child encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic skills. The philosophy of the PYP, as it directly affects the child, is expressed in a series of desired attributes and traits that characterize students with an international perspective.
At our sister school, the International School Neustadt (ISN), students can continue their education in the following three phases:
Secondary 1: Children aged 12-14 (Years 7-8)
International General Certificate of Secondary Education: Children aged 14-16 (Cambridge University IGCSE)
IB Diploma Programme: Children aged 16-18/19 (International Baccalaureate DP)
We provide a free bus service between our school in Ramstein and Neustadt, to facilitate this process
